5 Ideas For The Interested This Week - For The Interested

5 Ideas For The Interested This Week

“The oldest, shortest words — yes and no — are those which require the most thought.” — Pythagoras

The above image is as simple a guide to career growth as you’ll see.

It comes from Jimmy Daly who in this tweet points out the importance of saying yes to a lot of things early in your career to get experience and then increasingly saying no to things as you learn to focus your efforts.

Neither side of the equation is easy. Both are important.

Now, on to this week’s ideas…

1. HOW TO LAND A DREAM CLIENT WITH A BLOG POST, FACEBOOK AD, AND $100

“It’s a simple formula. If you have expertise in a subject matter, a clear idea of whose problems you help to solve, and a product or service which delivers that value, it will work for you no matter what field you’re in.”

This has the potential to be the most valuable idea I’ve ever shared and can literally grow your business overnight.

In this post I explain how to land a dream client with a blog post, Facebook ad, and $100 and show step-by-step exactly what I did recently to attract some new consulting clients.

The best part is this system can be adapted to attract new customers for just about any product or service.

2. SEVEN LIFE-CHANGING BIG IDEAS

“Everyone belongs to a tribe and underestimates how influential that tribe is on their thinking.”

Here’s a powerful question to consider: What ideas have changed your life?

Morgan Housel attempts to answer that question and shares the seven ideas that changed his life including that everything’s been done before, self-interest can lead people to believe and justify anything, and room for error is underappreciated and misunderstood.

Side note: Next week I’m going to share another life-changing idea about how to measure the most important elements of your day with For The Interested All Access members, so become an All Access member here if you’d like me to send it to you too!

3. HOW TO DEAL WITH HAVING TOO MANY CHOICES

“Delayed choices ultimately leads to confusion about one’s identity and purpose in life.”

In a world of ever-expanding options, it’s easier than ever to get overwhelmed.

Tess Brigham, MFT examines how to deal with having too many choices including to address how you truly feel, identify the things you can control, and embrace uncertainties.

4. EVERYTHING NEIL GAIMAN KNOWS ABOUT LOVE

“It’s not the kisses, or never just the kisses: it’s what they mean. Somebody’s got your back. Somebody knows your worst self and somehow doesn’t want to rescue you or send for the army to rescue them.”

Imagine having Neil Gaiman come to your wedding and read something he wrote about love for you.

Well, that’s a thing that actually happened for one lucky couple and now you get to read everything Neil Gaiman knows about love.

Who am I to summarize it? Just go read it.

5. 15 QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF WHEN TRYING TO GROW YOUR CAREER

“When you can set short, attainable goals you can clearly see the progress you’ve made and celebrate what you’ve accomplished rather than dwell on what you haven’t.”

This post was written to help actors, but I guarantee you’ll find it helpful for whatever you hope to accomplish.

Talent manager Brian Medavoy’s Actors’ Business Plan exercise features 15 questions to ask yourself when trying to grow your career including who do you want to know, are you willing to be uncomfortable, and what can you do today?

Your answers will help you figure out what you want and what it will take to get it.
