5 Ideas For The Interested This Week - For The Interested

5 Ideas For The Interested This Week

I’ve got a little something extra for you this week.

For the past 10 weeks, paid subscribers to my This Is How I Do It newsletter have received an email each week with an exclusive, behind-the-scenes look at how I build my audience and grow my business.

Now, I’m going to give you the chance to “unlock” one of those emails and read it for free.

Just fill out this one-question survey to vote for whichever topic you’re most interested in.

I’ll “unlock” the one that gets the most votes and send you a link to it in next week’s issue of FTI.

And by the way, if a bunch of those topics interest you and/or you’re impatient, you can become an annual This Is How I Do It subscriber and get access to all of them right away!

Now, on to this week’s ideas…

1. My Advice To A Creator Who Wants To Build A Business

“You have people who WANT to pay you for your help, but they don’t know how to do that unless you tell them about it.”

Here’s a chance to see a few suggestions I recently gave to a creator.

In this post I share my advice to a creator who wants to build a creative content business including suggestions for how to get more engagement on Facebook, more efficiently use direct messages on Instagram, and start to sell services on Instagram.

2. How To Turn Your Toxic Twitter Timeline Into A Valuable Learning Resource

“Changing my relationship with Twitter led to a whole new perspective on my relationship with social media.”

Twitter is so valuable if you learn how to use it in a productive way and follow the right people (see: people like me).

Andrew Leese figured this out and shares his tips about how to turn your toxic Twitter timeline into a valuable learning resource.

He breaks down why he unfollowed sports pages, who he followed instead, and what it’s taught him about the platform and himself.

3. How To Make A Living With A Newsletter

“50% of my subscribers came directly from just two posts.”

Lenny Rachitsky makes a living off his newsletter, but he never set out to do that and is the first to admit he doesn’t quite know what he’s doing.

But, in this 48-minute video about how to make a living with a newsletter he breaks down exactly how it’s happened for him and what he’s learned along the way including how he got started, how he writes his newsletter, and how he’s used Twitter to grow it.

4. How To Build A Successful Patreon Group

“Don’t hide from the objections, address them.”

This may technically be about Patreon, but it’s relevant to any membership community or content program you want to sell to an audience.

Jon Torrey breaks down how to build a successful Patreon group and shares seven lessons he’s learned from being a member of Dave Gerhardt’s marketing group including the importance of answering questions from your audience, giving people direct access to you, and that your job is to be a super-curator.

5. How To Write A Book From Start To Finish

“It should excite not only you, but also anyone you tell about it.”

Whatever excuse you have about why you can’t write a book is about to go out the window after you read this.

Jerry Jenkins has put together a massive guide on how to write a book from start to finish which covers everything from how to get started, to how to rewrite your book, to how to get your book published.

My Final Words Of The Week

You know the phrase, “It goes down in the DMs?”

Well, lately there’s been a bunch of interesting stuff going down in my Twitter direct messages.

I’ve had a conversation with a reader about how he makes money on YouTube, given another advice on how to draw attention to an important cause, and connected with another that looks like it may lead to an interesting partnership.

This is a long-winded way of saying, my DMs are open and I love to connect with readers so feel free to reach out, say hi, and strike up a conversation.

Have a great week.

Josh
